Outreach Support Volunteer
Use your lived experience to support vulnerable individuals

About the Role

As an Outreach Support Volunteer, you will use your own lived experience to support our service users. You'll assist our outreach team to engage with those sleeping rough, building trust and rapport to empower them to achieve their recovery goals.

Important: This opportunity is only open to people who have lived experience of either homelessness, mental health challenges, or have a history of offending or accessing support services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with outreach workers to build trusting relationships with those sleeping rough
  • Support staff to understand barriers to engagement and challenges faced by clients
  • Assist with looking for referrals and inputting information into databases
  • Accompany service users to meetings, safety briefings, and appointments

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Lived experience of homelessness, mental health challenges, or history of offending (required)
  • In later stages of recovery with personal resilience and good support network
  • Empathetic with excellent interpersonal skills and non-judgmental attitude
  • Basic IT skills and ability to work within professional boundaries
  • Understanding of homelessness causes and commitment to diversity & equality

Time Commitment

6pm-10pm, 5 shifts per week

12-month commitment required

Bid Writer Volunteer
Create persuasive proposals to secure funding and contracts

About the Role

As a Bid Writer, you'll be responsible for creating high-quality proposals and tender submissions to secure contracts and funding for our programs. You'll work closely with our leadership team and subject matter experts to present compelling, compliant, and strategic bids.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage bids from initiation to submission, producing high-quality responses on time
  • Draft clear, persuasive written responses aligned with evaluation criteria and client requirements
  • Liaise with stakeholders to gather input, identify win themes, and ensure consistency
  • Ensure compliance with branding, governance, and specifications including proofreading and formatting
  • Conduct research, competitor analysis, and maintain bid libraries and templates

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Exceptional written communication and editing skills with ability to simplify complex information
  • Strong attention to detail and meticulous proofreading abilities
  • Project and time management skills to handle multiple bids and meet strict deadlines
  • Analytical and strategic thinking to develop win themes and competitive proposals
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with bid management tools and tender platforms
  • Tertiary qualification in Communications, Professional Writing, Marketing, Business, or equivalent

Health and Wellbeing Therapies Volunteer
Improve wellbeing through complementary therapies

About the Role

As a Health and Wellbeing Therapies Volunteer, you'll improve our service users' wellbeing and overall quality of life. You'll offer complementary therapy on a one-to-one basis or in small groups to support vulnerable community members in their individual recovery.

Important: This role requires that you have relevant experience and training in complementary therapies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Offer complementary therapy (dancing, exercise, acupuncture, massage, etc.) on one-to-one basis or in small groups
  • Support service users with general health and wellbeing or specific issues
  • Always adhere to THPSF policies and procedures

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Necessary experience and training in complementary therapies (required)
  • Good communication skills with friendly and calm manner
  • Community focused and adaptable approach
  • Understanding of homelessness causes and impact
  • Commitment to diversity & equality (lived experience welcome)

Time Commitment

Tuesday, Thursday or Friday

11am-6pm, 5 hours per day

12-month commitment required

Housing Support Volunteer
Provide housing advice and support to vulnerable individuals

About the Role

As a Housing Support Volunteer, you'll support our housing advice and information service to provide advice and support on all housing matters to the homeless and ex-offenders who would otherwise be homeless on release from prison. This role requires reliability, punctuality, and confidence in managing various databases and systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Add capacity to the volunteer and staff team providing housing support
  • Explain housing options available to clients upon release from prison
  • Help clients fill out housing forms and access a range of housing options
  • Carry out in-person or telephone housing assessments
  • Update clients as their cases progress and collaborate with external partners

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Good communication skills and ability to work with vulnerable people
  • Personal resilience and good IT skills
  • Eligible and willing to complete enhanced DBS checks
  • Service-users and community focused approach
  • Friendly personality, good interpersonal skills, enthusiasm and motivation (experience in charity or homeless sector welcome but not essential)

Time Commitment

Monday-Sunday, 11am-6pm

(Some days may require 8am start)

1-2 days per week

12-month commitment required
